NOTES FROM THE EDITOR

Life seems to be all about change and one of our challenges is how we deal with this change.  The Association is not immune to change, as we have experienced over the past few years, and I have to announce another change has taken place with John Lloyd our Secretary having left Warsash Maritime Centre and is now working for Flagship Training at Gosport.  I am pleased to report that John has agreed to remain our Secretary and I thank him for all the work he undertaken for the Association over the past few years.  He has been replaced at the WMC by Andrew Hair (ex P&O Cruises) and we wish him well in his new position. (See the feature on New Faces).

Membership also changes and during the past year a number of members have left but also a number of new members have joined (see Membership Report).  The web site has attracted quite a number of enquiries some of which have turned into new members.  I am also looking into creating links from other nautical web sites to our own site in order to capture a bigger audience to the Association. Publishing the membership list on the web site has been slow in developing partly due to the worry of putting addresses on the web for all to see, but at the last AGM it was agreed to publish members names only along with the year they were at The School of Navigation.  If anyone wants to contact any particular member they can make initial contact through the editor.

I would like to thank all who have contributed copy that I have been able to use in this edition and am always on the lookout for new material so please do not hesitate in sending anything which you might think interesting to other members. After all its your magazine so copy and comments are all gratefully received.
